Supported Builds (PvE & WvW)

Minionmancer Builds

These builds provide excellent sustained DPS as well as god-like sustain.

The combination of Demonic Lore, Insidious Disruption and Terror causes Garish Pillar to send your enemies running while they take huge damage from Fear, Torment and Burning.

Almost all damage output is from conditions, and you convert 10% of all condition damage into health.

Using a Torch makes you a light source that can be seen by all other players, which is also very cool visually.

Sadistic Searing + Soul Reaping Build (no minions/pets)

This build forgoes minions/pets in favor of a full complement of Punishment skills to inflict the most burning damage possible.

Pro Tips

  • You'll want to get up-close-and-personal to make sure your Punishment skills are in range.
  • You can substitute in Trail of Anguish if you won't be AFK. (The bot doesn't know how to properly place the trail.)
  • You can try Feed From Corruption in place of Demonic Lore in WvW or PvP. This will steal a lot of boons.
  • Make sure Shade Frequency in the main menu is set to “Paced”. (3 seconds apart)

Core Necromancer

Pro Tips

  • This build is intended to help you stay in Death Shroud while in-combat.
  • It's a good choice for doing World Completion or if you're not able to use Scourge yet.

Heal/Barrier Support

This build aims to take advantage of the barrier generated bu shroud, it has a very high hp and provides support in the way of healing, barrier generation, might as well as removal of conditions. This is best used in groups, IE raids and fractals.

Reaper

This build aims to utilize chill to generate vulnerability and pull enemies towards you. This build will require a much closer distance than the others and will need skill manager to be adjusted to accommodate the reduced distance. Good choice for WvW and boss encounters.

NOTE: Additional builds will be supported over time.

Supported Builds (PvP)

Minionmancer PvP

This build aims for high sustain with Corrupter's Ferver and Parasitic Contagion, while maximizing condition damage.

It gets permanent Protection, has almost 30k health, and receives 10% of all condition damage back as health.

Poison and Torment are very effective in PvP, as players have difficulty cleansing poison that gets re-applied every 1.5s, and players tend to always be moving resulting in extreme Torment damage.

Sadistic Searing & Punishment PvP

This build attempts to inflict maximum burning damage and runs without minions/pets.

Reaper (PvP)

Skill Manager Configuration

Create a blank Skill Manager profile with a 600 or 900 range. (600 is better for Torch skills)

  1. MMO Minion \ GW2 Minion \ Skill Manager
  2. “+” Button to Create new Profile
  3. Give it a File Name of “Alhazred” or a name of your choice.
  4. Set the Fight Range to Custom.
  5. Set the Distance to 600.
  6. Set Swap Weapons to Manual.
  7. Save the profile.

Condition Duration vs. Condition Damage

  • Condition Damage: On paper, a build that focuses on pure condition damage will do ~33% more DPS than a build that sacrifices to get +100% condition duration. In practice, the DPS can be much higher because targets always die before conditions have time to run their course. To achieve the highest DPS, go with Dire or Carrion gear with Runes of the Undead. (or Renegade)
  • Condition Duration: A build that that focuses on +100% condition duration will have far more utility and survivability, as targets will stay feared, chilled, weakened, blinded, crippled, immobilized and poisoned much longer. This is particularly helpful if you're attempting to solo champion+ mobs, mobs with break bars, or mobs that can heal themselves. To achieve this, go with Trailblazer gear and Tempest Runes. (The Tempest Rune provides +27.6% condition duration by itself!) You can also substitute some pieces of Trailblazer gear for Bringers if absolutely needed.
