Slide will lock you in position until you can slidecast
Stutter will do the same as slide but also stop you if your next gcd is a channel

Usage scenario: Let's say you have stormclouds coming up on e5s
You would use stutter to slowly preposition to your corner
Once you're in your corner, you swap to slide and wait for marker to go away
Once marker goes away, you slidecast out of your current cast and gtfo to the center

The difference is that in stutter mode, the ACR assumes you're not moving and does 100% uptime rotation. With slidecast mode, it won't stop you before your next channel, so you can keep moving and your skill profile should use instant cast gcds. This is most useful for prolonged movement.
